Advancing the global,
militant women’s
movement!

Around the globe more women are facing precarious conditions due to the growth of both neoliberalism and neofascism, which expose them to increased exploitation in workplaces, intensified land grabbing and displacement in the countryside, and heightened repression when fighting back for their rights.

We unite to advance the peoples’ movement for freedom, equality, social justice, democracy and peace!  We resist all forms of reactionary currents and attacks against women, our communities and our people!

The International Women’s Alliance: Uniting the World’s most exploited and oppressed women in the fight for change.

The Manila Declaration was first drafted and united at our First General Assembly on July 5, 2011 in Manila, Philippines. The Manila Declaration is the unity statement of the International Women's Alliance and serves to guide the political unity of the organization.

In 2020 - during the first peak of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Executive Committee drafted an updated version to provide further political context and expand on the significance of IWA on it's 10 year anniversary.

These documents serve to guide the alliance's political line and shared analysis for members:

  1. Class Unity based on historic role of working and oppressed women fighting for national and social liberation

  2. Unity in action - through campaigns, political activity, and days of action - against common enemies

In the twenty-first century state violence and economic exploitation universally impact women at the margins and prevents our full participation in society. As a global alliance of women's organizations, we realize that it is our collective strength that can change our situation for the better when we fight together.

Our members interrelate their particular issues in each country to larger global systems of capitalism, war, and patriarchy through our two global campaign platforms:

Women of the World Unite Against U.S. Led War, Militarism, Racism and Imperialist Intervention!

Women Over Profit! No to Monopoly Capitalism, Patriarchy, Feudalism and Class Oppression! Fight for Women's Liberation!

Statements & Resources

IWA regularly releases statements on burning issues globally to expose how war, militarism, exploitation and corruption impact women in different sectors.

We are committed to providing a platform for grassroots women's organizations to share their issues and campaigns on a global platform through educational resources, webinars, and focus groups.

We uplift the struggles of working and toiling women in the global south to show how the most exploited and oppressed women are not accepting the world as it is, but are fighting to change it.

Through community organizing, political activism, and strong campaigns to change the systems which hold us down - a better world is possible!

Women are able to oppose state violence and exploitation in order to create a world where it is safe to be educated, safe to advocate for ourselves and our families, safe to hold a job, and safe to demand change.

We continue the legacy of fearless women around the world who confront exploitation and oppression with unity, strength and resolve.
