IWA on Ahed Tamimi’s Release

The International Women’s Alliance (IWA) gives a red salute to Ahed Tamimi for her courage and militancy in fighting for the right of the Palestinian people to their lands and for independence.

Ahed, who describes herself as a Palestinian freedom fighter has been an activist since she was 11 years old.  She was recently released from prison where she served an eight month term for slapping an Israeli soldier who shot her cousin with a rubber bullet.

In the context of the mounting atrocities of the fascist Israeli state against the Palestinian people, and the ongoing heroic resistance by the Palestinian people, Ahed Tamimi is an icon for resistance movements across the world.

The International Women’s Alliance (IWA)  fully supports the struggle of the Palestinian people for their independence and against Israeli occupation.

IWA is a global alliance of grassroots-based women’s organizations, institutions, alliances, networks and individuals, united in establishing a democratic, anti-imperialist progressive women’s movement in the 21st century.
